2014 Ao Yun Cabernet Sauvignon, China
Regular price $325.00
Ao Yun is Mo・ Hennessy's new Chinese winery located in the remote and utterly breathtaking (almost literally) Himalayan mountain terroir in the Yunnan Province. The venture was spearheaded by MH CEO Jean-Guillaume Prats, former director of Ch穰eau Cos d脱stournel, and winemaker Maxence Dulou, who previously worked at Ch穰eau Quinault l'Enclos. Together they have embarked on an incredibly ambitious and challenging journey to create China's first top-quality, luxury wine and, after having tasted it recently, we believe they have succeeded. 93 Points, Wine Enthusiast - Inky garnet in the glass, this wine from the foothills of the Himalayas offers a bouquet of dark plum, cassis and pipe tobacco. It opens on the palate with bright flavors of blackberry, black cherry and blood orange that slowly back off to reveal sophisticated notes of cacao, anise and shaved truffle. As firm tannins fade, bold fruit returns to the palate for a finish that is marked by a touch of eucalyptus.
