93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - opens a bit like a horse stable, with leathery animalic flavors that might frighten the beauty drinkers among you, but the background of this wine is just beautiful in its deepness, perfect fruit ripeness, concentration, purity and and spiciness. There are coffee and black tea aromas intermixed with black berries and even floral/herbal and spicy terroir aromas. This 2011 is a hidden beauty! Silky textured, pure and elegant on the palate, obviously with low sulphur (23 milligram per liter total), this is a concentrated, juicy and vibrant Pinot full of energy and tension. The tannins are firm and pure, coming from the grape skins instead of the oak, and they structure this powerful and juicy yet finessed, balanced wine with ease. The finish is very long and fleshy, revealing a perfect ripeness and natural concentration. Bottled in August 2012, this is great and characterful Pinot Noir d'Alsace!
